This is a blog of two chicks trying to keep spending under control. I saw a video of Louis CK on Conan O’Brien. a couple months ago. Pretty much about how we’ve gotten too spoiled by technology, by convenience. When I was a kid, my mother got money on payday and then that was it. You spent it, it was gone. No more. Now things are so convenient, it’s so easy to whip out a credit card or debit card and pay. The money is FAKE. It’s like play money and it’s easy to spend fifty or a hundred dollars on a trip to Target and have no idea where it went. Hence my idea. Cash Only. Each payday I’d take out my budgeted amount. I’d allocate it to several areas, including Groceries and Gas. And when I ran out, well, I was SOL. Imagine my surprise when in a conversation with a friend I found out she’d been doing the same thing for a while. That’s Trys. She’s the pro. I’m Holly and I’m the neophyte. And this is the story of our journey to better financial control, budgeting, and spending, one greenback and one failure at a time. Here’s hoping we don’t run out of milk.
